Christmas in Strasbourg

During winter time, the European capital becomes the capital of Christmas.

Every year, from the last week of November, the European capital Strasbourg becomes the capital of Christmas.

Born in 1570, the Christmas market is the oldest in Europe. With its 300 chalets spread over several sites in the heart of the city, and around the Cathedral, the Chriskindelsmärik is most famous for its traditional markets, children's village, Bredle village, thematic markets, its market Off (alternative solidarity market). For several weeks, Strasbourg shines and sparkles with its streets, squares, houses, bridges with illuminations and colorful decorations. The big Christmastree 30 meters high dominates the central square. The Christmas magic and scents takes over the city. An extensive program of many events is proposed by the City of Strasbourg to spend a exceptional and traditional Christmastime in Strasbourg.
