Parking

The City of Strasbourg offers a diverse range of parking facilities, with rates adapted to different users.

On-street parking

Parking rates

There are charges for parking from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm and parking is free on Sundays and public holidays.

Rates gradually increase beyond the first few hours of parking (3.5 hours in the green zone, 2.5 hours in the orange zone, 2 hours and 15 minutes in the red zone).

Caution: payment in one fare zone is not recognized in another zone, even if the fare charged there is cheaper. For example, a payment made in the red zone will not be taken into account in the orange or green zone.

Please note that parking regulations, generally speaking throughout the territory of the city of Strasbourg, do not allow a vehicle to park beyond 24 hours on the same spot.

There are also blue areas where parking is free of charge, provided that the maximum parking time indicated is respected. Blue areas require the European blue disc to be placed on the inside of the car, behind the windshield, on the sidewalk side, after having indicated the time of arrival on the disc.

How to pay parking?

The parking meters allow you to pay by coins, credit or debit card (including contactless), but also by contactless mobile (NFC system).

During the payment process, the vehicle license plate must be entered. The ticket is dematerialized (it is no longer printed), but you can still get a receipt when the parking meter offers it. However, it is not necessary to place the receipt on your vehicle's dashboard.

Important: entering your license plate correctly is essential for the control of your ticket. With an approximate plate number the controller cannot find the payment, which results in the issuance of an additional fee ("Forfait de Post Stationnement"). Make sure you check the accuracy of the plate number you entered on the parking meter before validating it.

Paying via mobile applications

You can also pay for parking with your phone by downloading OPnGO (translated into English, Spanish and Dutch), Whoosh! or Easypark (translated into English). They are very convenient because they allow you to adjust your parking time. For example, if you return to your vehicle faster than expected, you can use one of the applications to only pay for the time you actually spent on the parking spot. It is also possible to add time and pay for it directly on the app and from wherever you are.

Moreover, when you use the application, you no longer have to go to the parking meter. Your position is geolocalized by the application. All you have to do is check that it has taken into account the place where you are actually parked and you can choose the estimated duration of your stay.

Overtime fee - The "Forfait de Post Stationnement"

Parking is controlled by the company Indigo (through its subsidiary Streeteo), which is the public service delegate on behalf of the City of Strasbourg.

The criminal fine was replaced by an additional fee ("Forfait de Post Stationnement") and became a public domain occupancy fee. It is set at €17 if the payment is made within 3 days but rises to €35 after this deadline:

  • If the vehicle's owner has not exceeded the maximum parking time while paying a portion of the fee, it will be deducted from the "Forfait de Post stationnement"'s amount. For example, €4.20 paid in the red zone for 2 hours of parking results in a deduction of this amount in the case of an inspection within the following hour. Indeed, parking in the red zone is limited to 3 hours. Therefore, the "Forfait de Post Stationnement" is €17 - €4.20 = €12.80 if paid within 72 hours or €35 - €4.20 = €30.80 if paid after 3 days.
  • In the event that the inspection is carried out beyond the maximum authorised parking duration, the "Forfait de Post Stationnement" is €17 (if paid within 3 days), or €35 (if paid beyond that).

How to pay for the "Forfait de Post Stationnement"?

Anyone can forget one day to pay for parking or exceed the time they have paid for. In case of control by the company responsible, Streeteo, if a "Forfait Post Stationnement" has been issued to you, you have the possibility to pay it:

  • at one of the city's parking meters (first screen, choice 2 "Paiement du Forfait de Post-Stationnement")
  • at the Indigo Parking Boutique located in the Kléber parking lot
  • online via the dedicated Streeteo website (in French)
  • on Whoosh! and OPnGO applications

The proceeds of the "Forfait Post Stationnement" will be donated to the Eurometropolis and will finance operations to promote sustainable mobility.

The driver and passengers can buy a flat-rate group ticket that covers both parking charges and a return ticket with the Tram. Park and Ride car parks are open Mondays to Saturdays, from 7am to 8pm. Outside these hours, parking is free but users need to buy a ticket for the Tram. More info on the P+R system.

Disabled person's parking spots

Disabled person or person with reduced mobility's parking spots are exclusively for the use of holders of the valid European Parking Card (in France, the CMI). A driver accompanying a person holding a European Parking Card is also entitled to use the reserved spaces.

The card must be clearly visible behind the windshield in such a way that the front side of the card can be easily seen by the controllers.

Good to know: Parking is free of charge for the occupancy of a disabled or non-disabled spot - provided that the original valid European Parking Card can be easily seen and read by the controllers behind the windshield. It is the card that leads to the application of the free measure for people with disabilities.

Disabled persons holding a valid European Parking Card are also not concerned by the limitation of parking time on spots in blue areas (which is of 1 hour or 1.5 hours for other users depending on the areas in Strasbourg).

Please note that parking regulations, generally speaking throughout the territory of the city of Strasbourg, do not allow a vehicle to be parked for more than 24 hours on the same spot.

In the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg parking lots, paid parking is maintained, in accordance with the provisions of the law of March 18th, 2015.
