International Solidarity

In addition to its decentralised cooperation partnerships, the City of Strasbourg also provides support for international solidarity actions undertaken by locally-based associations.

Strasbourg is a firm proponent of solidarity and openness and works tirelessly to promote the values of justice and democracy, human dignity and respect for Human Rights. In 2003, the City set up a yearly system for providing financial support for international solidarity initiatives in developing countries, undertaken by Strasbourg-based associations.

Examples of projects that have received funding from the City of Strasbourg include a school in Vietnam and in Togo, school canteens in Burkina Faso, running water and solar panels for producing electricity in Guinea, to mention but a few.

The call for projects is generally open in January and closed in April. For more information on eligibility conditions and how to apply, visit the French version of the website of the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg.
