Major sports events

Strasbourg hosts over 500 sports events every year. The City encourages the organisation of local and regional matches and tournaments, as well as major national and international events.

The Internationaux de Strasbourg

The best women players in the world play in Strasbourg just before the French Open. Come along and enjoy the tennis!

The Strasbourg International Tournament is held in May and is the biggest clay-court tournament in France, after Roland Garros. The finest women players in the world have played in the tournament, including Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, Amélie Mauresmo and, more recently, Maria Sharapova, Marion Bartoli and Samantha Stosur.

In 2011, the tournament moved to facilities right next to the European institutions, giving a new dimension to an event which has become a key date in the French tennis calendar.

The Strasbourg tournament is an eco-responsible event, and since 2010, substantial measures have been taken to limit carbon emissions, while the carbon footprint is published at the end of the tournament.

The excellent facilities have provided the backdrop to many extraordinary and passion-filled matches.

Strasbourg Europe runs and walks

Strasbourg-Europe runs ("Courses de Strasbourg-Europe") are for both fun and serious runners, walkers and swimmers!

Strasbourg-Europe runs have now become a thing of tradition in the month of May and one of the City's major sports events.

With over 8000 participants taking part in running, swimming and walking events, Strasbourg Europe is a huge popular success.

Handball EuroTournoi

EuroTournoi is an annual, top-level international handball tournament held in Strasbourg.
