Following the contact established during the first Franco Indian Conference on Decentralized Cooperation in January 2010, a 3-year quadripartite cooperation agreement was signed in October 2011.

Heritage and urban development

Strasbourg and Udaipur share a rich and valuable heritage and both cities are having to cope with the same issues of urban development and the question of striking the right balance between the ancient and modern, while offering the local population the best possible quality-of-life. The partnership's main themes include the enhancement of local heritage, public transport systems and active citizenship.

Two Franco-Indian workshops have been organized to reflect on the urban transformation of Udaipur up to 2030, in close partnership with ENSAS (Strasbourg National School of Architecture) and its counterpart in Udaipur, the Buddha Institute, with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sites et Cités Remarquables de France association. The proposals that emerged from this workshop were put on exhibition in Strasbourg and Udaipur, in the Heritage House created as part of this partnership.
